BIOGRAPHY: I have been trying to trace any possible descendants of Constance Joan Firbank, born in Leeds England in 1917. I would be Constance’s first cousin, once removed. It is a relatively rare name and I am therefore intrigued to find, on your website devoted to Aspeling genealogy, a Constance Joan Firbank who married a Hess, and who had descendants. Family folklore has it that our Constance Joan Firbank was a missionary in China in the 1930’s and forties and then left when the communists took over. She apparently then went to Africa and may have married and been a teacher. A Constance Joan Firbank is on the UK passenger list for 1957 travelling from Durban to Southampton.
